I was in town with my boyfriend yesterday evening looking for a red eyeshadow to use for a Halloween Makeup look I want to do for a series of Halloween looks here on my blog and on my YouTube channel too and of course I couldn't find a red eyeshadow anywhere! I looked everywhere, in every makeup shop and at every brand in those shops and not a single one had a red eyeshadow but whilst I was looking I came across a red blush and I thought to myself its not an eyeshadow but it will have to do so that brings me onto my first new buy...

1. NYX High Definition Blush - Shade: Crimson - Price: £5.50
When I was browsing around Boots this Blush stood out to me. Sure I want it more to use as an eyeshadow but honestly it's so pretty no doubt I will use it as a Blush too. I was really excited when I found this because I don't own any NYX products and I've really wanted to try some so now I have the chance!

Of course I couldn't just buy one makeup product although technically I was only meant to be getting one but I can never resist when I have money and I'm around makeup, I just want to buy it all! I made my way to TKmaxx to check out the makeup they had in stock. I discovered they stocked the brand W7 a brand I really like so I searched through the products - there were only limited ones though unfortunately :( However, I did manage to find 3 products which bring me onto my next 2nd, 3rd and 4th buys...

2. W7 Eye Want It - £3.99
I've got to be honest I picked this product up because the packaging reeled me in. Obviously I also really liked the colours but it was the packaging that made me pick up so well done W7 you really know how to get people to be drawn in to your products (I'm more likely to pick up something with nice packaging, any else?) I'm excited to try these eyeshadows.

3. W7 The Fixer Face Spray - £1.99
This is the first ever makeup setting spray I have owned. I'm excited to see how it goes and if I like it or not.

4. W7 Shape Your Face Contour Kit - £5.99
Again this is another first for me, I have never owned a Contour Kit because I was never really into Contouring but I decided I wanted to give it a go and I saw this kit and thought why not?

You may be wondering why all of the products are pictured laying against a shoe? That is because that is where the best light was in my room at the time of taking the photo and I needed to lean them against something and nothing worked except from my boyfriend's shoe...

Let me know what you think of all the new products I bought and if you know a brand that sells a bright red (preferably matte) eyeshadow do tell me because I couldn't find a single one!

All the best

Autumn had officially arrived and my dark lipsticks were staring me in the face as I sat down to do my makeup for the day one morning and I thought to myself "it's time to begin doing the Autumn make up looks". So I sat down at my desk and pulled out all the makeup items I wanted to use to create this 'Autumn look' and then I had this brilliant idea - why don't I film a Autumn inspired 'Get Ready With Me' for my YouTube channel as I had done 'Get Ready With Me' videos before but never an Autumn version so I dusted off my camera (I hadn't filmed in a couple of months), placed it in front of where I was doing my makeup and pressed record. By the time I finished my makeup I had a whole video filmed ready to edit and put on YouTube which I did but then I thought why not write a blog post to go with this video? So that is exactly what I am doing right now!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_xUgnBmneM

*Disclaimer: All the products shown I purchased with my own money, none of it was gifted to me by companies and I was not sponsored to film the video.*

For an Autumn look I like to really go in with makeup so I usually add a few more steps than I would for a normal everyday makeup look. The first one being a primer (I know I should use a primer all the time, shush!) and the primer I have is Benefit's Porefessional.

This product has been in my collection for almost a year now but I hadn't actually started using it until now. I should of used it sooner but to be honest I always forgot to do it...
After only using this product a couple of times I am really pleased with it, the Benefit Porefessional Primer goes onto the skin really nice and does pretty much what it says it will do - minimise pores.

After applying my primer I went on to use my No 7 Stay Perfect Foundation - this product is amazing! For a long time I was searching for a foundation that would match my skin tone and it wasn't until I found No 7's Stay Perfect Foundation that I actually managed to match my skin tone (with the help of one of the lovely ladies on the No 7 Kiosk in Boots who used a colour matcher device on me). My shade is Cool Ivory if you were wondering. I am in love with this foundation, it goes on well, a little goes a long way so if you have this product like me don't use too much otherwise you will end up looking cakey and you don't want that. To apply this foundation I used my trusty Real Techniques Stippling Brush which I have used for a long time to apply makeup with now and that most probably won't change to be honest.

To set it all into place I used my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which I have been using for the longest time now if you can't tell from the picture I have actually hit pan on the product so I may need to pick up a new one at some point. To apply this powder I used my Real Techniques Powder Brush which again I have been using for a very long time.

Once I finished applying makeup to my face I then moved onto my eyes. For this I used my new eyeshadow palette from Makeup Revolution it is the Flawless Ultra Eyeshadows palette and it is amazing! I love every single shade it has, there isn't a single shade that I don't like.

First I applied the shade Tarnish (2nd Row - Middle Colour) to my eye lid using my Real Techniques Shading Brush. Before moving on to use my Makeup Revolution E103 Brush to blend the colour with so that it didn't look so harsh on my eyes.

After I blended the colour on my eye lid I used my Makeup Revolution Ultra Crease Eyeshadow Brush to apply the shade Red Night (2nd Row - Middle Colour) in the crease of my eye. I then used my Makeup Revolution E103 Brush again to blend the colours together.

Once I had applied the eye shadow I went on to use my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer under my eyes to cover up any of the fall down that might of occurred from the eyeshadow although I don't think there was any so I would used it to conceal my under eyes instead. I also used it to conceal some of my spots. To blend this in I used my Real Techniques Foundation Brush - I did have a Concelear Brush from Real Techniques that I would usually use but I have no idea where it has gone.

Next up is eyeliner on the top lid of my eyes using my recent purchase of the Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner (which I'm loving by the way!)

After applying the eyeliner I then went back to my eyeshadow palette and used the shade Night (The black one in the corner) to apply on top of the eyeliner to hide any mistakes I had made and to much it last longer. To apply this I used my No 7 Eye Contour Brush.

Once I had finished applying the eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner on my top lid I got out my Mac Crayon Kohl eyeliner and applied this to my lower lash line and then again I went back to my eyeshadow palette and applied the black colour over the top of the eyeliner to make it last longer throughout the day.

After the eyeliner I then went on to apply mascara to my lashes using my Benefit Rollerlash mascara fist (which I don't seem to have a picture of) and then over the top of that I used my Rimmel Volume Flash x10 mascara.

The final step of this makeup look is the Lipstick. For this look I used my brand new (and favourite) Lipstick from Collection - the Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick and the shade I used is Aubergine Kiss which is a dark purpley red colour.

& that is it! That is my Autumn Edition of a Get Ready With Me. Don't forget to watch the video that goes alongside this blog post to see me actually applying the products (video linked above!)

All the best

Autumn...it's my favourite season, my favourite time of year (other than Christmas of course!)
When the air gets colder, the leaves change colours and lay on the floor and you hear the pitter patter of raindrops on your window you know Autumn has arrived. Although to be honest if you live in a city like mine where it's always cold and always raining then what I just wrote isn't really a good indicator of Autumn but hey ho lets use it anyway!

5 Things I Love About Autumn:

1. Autumn Nights
Who doesn't love a crisp Autumn Night? When the air is cold but your inside usually cuddled up under a duvet or a blanket in your pyjamas or lazy day clothes with a film on the tv or laptop (usually something on Netflix), sipping on a drink of hot chocolate (the galaxy froth hot chocolate is my fav) with the lights off, or dimmed or if you like me you have fairy lights on so you get a bit of light in the room but not too much and maybe you'll have a snack to go with your hot chocolate too? Oh my, it's perfect! <3

2. Cosy Socks
Autumn is the time in which I break out my cosy socks to keep my feet nice and warm during the cold weather. I'll wear them around the house or I'll even wear them with my shoes when I go out. They just become an Autumn essential for me every single year (plus some have some really cute patterns and colours!)

3.Lots of Cuddles
This one usually applies to those of us that are in relationships, although if your single you could always cuddle a pet, a family member or even a friend if you really wanted to? Don't let being single cause you to miss out on this one because it truly is great. My boyfriend will be pestered by me for loads of cuddles this Autumn (sorry babe!).

4.The Candles
Who doesn't love the Autumn scented candles? Oh my they are amazing! My boyfriend won a warm spice scented candle and gave it to me and it has honestly become my fav, my room just smells of Autumn, I love it so much.

5. Going For Walks
Going for walks in Autumn is just the best, it's not hot like it is in the Summer so I don't feel like I'm dying when I walk, it is pretty much the perfect temperature...well sometimes anyway, occasionally it's far too cold for me to even want to step foot outside but there are times where the air is so lovely to for walks in.

Have I missed something you love about Autumn? Tell me in the comments below. I'm always interested to hear what everyone likes and doesn't like.

Have you ever been told to 'just snap out of it' ? Yeah me too...
When you're suffering from mental illness a lot of people don't seem to understand that it's hard for you, that you struggle on a daily basis pretty much depending on how severe your mental illness is. I remember when I first started suffering from Depression and Anxiety (they both came at around the same time for me), most people wouldn't take me seriously...even some family members! They thought I was attention seeking, lazy, a liar and many more words which aren't PG friendly. All I needed was some help, for someone to understand - after all I was scared, I didn't know what was happening or why I felt the way I did. I just wanted to be told that it was going to be okay. Whenever I had a panic attack I was told I was overreacting because I would start crying and breathing fast out of no where. The things those people were saying were actually making me worse not better,I was only 14 at the time it all started so you can manage how words would of affected me back then.
Thankfully I did have some really supportive people, who actually learnt about what I was going through so that they were able to help me and to understand what I was going through during that time. But of course when your feeling negative all the time due to your mental illness and then your being attacked constantly by other people on top of that, there horrible words are going to stick with you the most. I can still remember it all 4 years later.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyoAD1UODQg

It's impossible to 'just snap out of it' , if you suffer from a mental illness it takes time to learn how to cope, even then it doesn't go away - it never goes away, it will always be there but you cope a lot better and can live life again as if it isn't there at all just like I do now. Sure you're going to have your bad days where it will make an appearance again but those bad days do get less and less trust me. You just need to find the right help and support. So to those of you who tell us to 'just snap out of it' do one because you're no help at all, myself and everyone else who is struggling right now don't need you saying things like that so I suggest you keep your mouth shut.
"If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all"

This blog post is aimed towards the people who judge those with mental illness but I also want to address those that are struggling and give them so advice so here it goes.

I know what it's like to struggle, at the beginning stages of my Anxiety and Depression I would just cry all the time, some times for no reason at all, I had no idea what was wrong with me. I got treated badly by those who I considered 'my friends' , some of my family members said hurtful things and my school took me out of all of my lessons because I had missed too much due to not being able to leave my house and go to school for about 6 months so therefore I was sat in one room for a whole year of my school life with a couple of people who also struggled and with some people that had misbehaved in lesson and got sent out. It was hell, I was basically teaching myself...luckily I'm quite a smart person and was able to teach myself but that's not the point I shouldn't of been treated like that, it was wrong. I was in school but isolated from 'normal' school life, this happened in my last year of school as well so that sucked.
I was sick of being treated so badly by everyone instead of them helping me and I was sick of feeling so awful within myself so I went out and found help and support for myself (along with the help of my mum too, thanks mum! : )  I booked doctors appointments and counselling sessions (it took me a long time to find a doctor and a counsellor that were actually helpful) , I bought some books on anxiety and I searched the internet a lot just so I could figure out what was happening to me, why I felt the way I did and how I could cope with it all. It took a long time but I got there in the end, I learned ways to cope (breathing exercises, distraction, taking small steps at a time) and soon enough my Anxiety and Depression lessened, although I still had a few wobbles here and there (and still do sometimes) I was able to lead a 'normal' life again. I could leave my house for a little while which eventually led to being able to leave my house for as long as I wanted to, my panic attacks became less frequent, and I became the happy, bubbly girl (with a bad day here and there of course) I used to be before this happened to me.
The Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks are still there, they make an appearance sometimes but now they are a part of me instead of being me. You can get to this stage too, I believe in you! :)

On October 10th (World Mental Health Day) there will be a blog post on ways to cope with Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks so stay tuned if you would like some more help and advice.
All the best!

P.S. I made a video over on my YouTube channel with the same name as this blog post, it's a creative video on being told to snap out of it. This blog post goes alongside that video so I recommend you check it out. It's linked above!

Is it just me that likes new beginnings? Personally I love them...only if they're good though!
It's a chance for a fresh start, to wipe the slate clean, to create new memories and build new relationships plus so much more.

This past week or so there have been loads of new beginnings for me, in fact there are still more to come if I'm honest with you. Am I scared? Yeah sure. Who isn't scared when it comes to change? But you've just got to embrace it and let life do it's thing. I found out quite a bit of bad news recently, it's very personal so I'm not going to get into it but it got me thinking...for so long I have hated change, for so long I have held back quite a lot and stood far away in the distance from so many things. Why did I do that? To be honest, I couldn't tell you why ; its who I am I suppose? I've been like it for as long as I can remember (although I have a rubbish memory so who knows how long that is haha),  and then along came my dreaded anxiety which made it worse than what it was and I just got sort of stuck in this rut of unhappiness, being anxious and insecure until one day I broke out of that, not very much but enough to be able to live my life again and to not be so scared all the time but it wasn't until recently that slowly that shell is starting to break more and more and the human behind it (me) is starting to show, to come out and actually experience life a bit more than before. It feels good, it honestly does. Sure I still have my inner demons in there and things still make me anxious, upset or scared but I'm a human being so no matter what that is going to happen regardless but it's not as bad as before. It took some bad news to make me realise that you only have one life so you have got to live it to fullest that you possibly can...which is the reason for my new beginnings.

List of my New Beginnings :

(some are personal and I don't want to broadcast them all over the internet so here are just a few)

  • My YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/c/ThatAmateurActress97) is relaunching again -  I've missed being a YouTuber, I've missed creating content and doing the one thing that I love therefore I decided to come back and take a crack at it again. Now I'm not saying its going to be perfect and that there is going to be videos every week because although that is my aim life does get in the way sometimes. Lets be honest here I could have a crappy anxiety day which makes me not want to upload and to be honest that is more than likely going to happen at some point but I don't want to force myself if I'm not feeling great and I also don't want to feel bad for missing a video one week which is how I was constantly feeling before I disappeared off the YouTube scene for a while and it was just getting me down so I decided to leave but I never mentioned it because I knew I wasn't leaving for good, I knew I was going to come back one day I just didn't know when so I never really mentioned the fact that I was leaving for a while. However, I went away and had a think to myself and I thought "Do you know what? I'm not the perfect YouTuber and I'm not a perfect person I'm going to have bad days when I don't want to upload, things are going to happen which stop me from uploading that week and I just need to accept that and not feel bad about it and just keep trying and keep going instead of feeling so bad that I just leave one day. So therefore, I have come back and I plan to keep going this time because I truly do love doing YouTube and I have missed it loads if I'm being honest with you. So go check out my channel and subscribe for new content! (cheeky plug there haha, sorry!)
  • My Blog (The one you are reading right now!) is also relaunching- I have a passion for writing just like I do for YouTube which is the whole reason I started a blog, to write (duh!) but I never really did much about this blog which you can tell from my previous posts...and I just had this feeling that I wanted to start writing again about anything and everything which caused this blog to pop into my head. I thought that this would be the perfect outlet for that so here I am! :)
Those are the only two new beginnings that I'm going to share with you, they may seem pathetic to some of you and you may be wondering why I'm making such a big fuss about them but to me they are a big thing therefore I'm going to make a fuss about them because at the end of the day it's my life and I can do what I want. :D

All the best!

The school season is coming around again, so we all know what that means right?
SCHOOL SUPPLY SHOPPING!
I don't know about you but I absolutely love shopping for school supplies, I don't know why as I don't enjoy school, well not secondary school anyway, however I have now graduated from secondary school and I'm going in to College. I'm only taking one class and that is Performing Arts, therefore there's not really that much I need to buy as it's a mostly practical based class but there is still theory work and I still love school supplies nonetheless so I went out and bought some whether I need it or not. Of course my supplies won't be everything you need, it depends on how many classes you take, what school year your in and what your school requires you to bring so please do keep that in mind when reading this. With that being said lets get onto my supplies. All of the supplies shown are bought from Tesco's with my own money.

The first thing I bought from Tesco was these Pilot FriXon Set, this set has 3 different types of pens in it. The black has a fine cone tip (ball point), the blue has an extra fine needle point tip and the yellow is a highlighter. Not only are these pens great for writing but they're also erasable (there is a rubber on the bottom of them) and that is why I love them so much! I have had the Pilot FriXon Ball set before which is the black one but in three different colours, one black, one blue and one red and I was always buying them because they became my favourite pens but then I saw that they now do 3 different types in one so I just had to get it. They actually also have re-useable ones of these now too where you can replace the ink when it runs out, hopefully I can get hold of some soon to show you.

Moving onto the next set of pens that I got, which are also in the Pilot FriXon range, Pilot FriXon Light these ones are. These are all highlighters, no different types of pens like the above set just purely highlighters. I bought these because again I used to use the Pilot FriXon Ball set and I saw that Pilot had brought out highlighters so I just had to get them. If you can't tell Pilot are one of my favourite brands of pens! :D
The next thing I bought was more pens! A girl can never have too many pens right? ;) These pens are the Smooth Felt Tip pens from Paper Mate, another favourite brand of mine. I have never used these before so I don't know what there like but I'm excited to find out.

I then decided I had bought enough pens now so I moved onto pencils. These pencils are the pencils that I have always used, I haven't found any better ones than these before. They are the Staedtler pencils, this set has 2B, B, HB, H and 2H pencils in it. Usually I would just buy a set of 2B pencils but this time I went for a variety.

The last thing I bought were these two notebooks. I originally went to the notebook section to get a small pukka pad notebook as I own the bigger ones from previous years in school but since I am only taking one class now I wanted a smaller one. However, on my way to get the pukka pad I saw this cute little notebook with loads of cartoon drawings on it and I just had to get it. I am actually going to be using that notebook for YouTube but I put it into this haul because I think it would make a cute little school notebook.

That is all the school supplies that I bought for College this year, I hope you all have a great school year whether it be in Primary, Secondary, College or University.

Today I looked out my window after waking up at 11:00pm (oops!) and I saw that it was raining, and pretty hard too. On these sorts of days I don't bother as much with how I look, however I do still want to look presentable. Now, usually I would do this off camera but I thought I would give a go at filming a Get Ready With Me video, a rainy day edition, and that's exactly what I did.
(link below)
                                                     http://youtu.be/ReWUd4-9UO8

I had so much fun filming and editing this video that I thought I would also do a blog post on it as I'm always searching for new blog post ideas.
All the products mentioned I purchased with my own money, this was not sponsored at all!

Natural Collection Press Powder
For a rainy day I just do a simple make up look, nothing to exaggerated so I decided to skip the foundation step and go straight to the concealer and powder. This powder I use all the time, I really like it, I've had it for quite a while now and it is the Natural Collection Press Powder, I will either use a brush, which I don't know the name of because it doesn't say, or I use a plain make up 'sponge'. It's usually the 'sponge'. I like this powder a lot because it makes me look slightly more awake, this and the concealer work wonders together.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up
Concealer
Speaking of the concealer, that is what I'm going to talk about next, although I used the concealer before I used the powder. This concealer is a recent purchase, in fact it is the first concealer that I have ever used, I don't know why I haven't used one before because it works amazingly for dark circles (and spots too). I can see this product staying in my collection for quite a long time, I have nothing bad to say about this, so far! It's still early days. It is the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer.

No 7 So Simple Eye Duo Eye Shadow
The next product that I used for this rainy day look is the No 7 So Simple Eye Duo Eye shadow. This is my go to eye shadow, although I swap it out for others sometimes you will mostly find me wearing this one. I used the brown colour but sometimes I put on the lighter shade and then the brown on top so the brown isn't too over top for a simple look. This time though I just used the brown.

Mac Eyeliner Pencil in Black

This eyeliner is amazing, it is pretty much the only one that I will use! I just love Mac eyeliners so much, as you can probably tell by the picture, the pencil is now tiny. I have used this eyeliner for as long as I can remember. I recommend this eyeliner to anyone, the only flaw is it doesn't stay on all day but I have found this with a lot of eyeliners anyway, it is very hard to find a pencil eyeliner that won't smudge and will stay on all day. Nonetheless I love this eyeliner even with the flaw. I only use this on the waterline as I don't really like pencil eyeliners on the top lid, I prefer to use a liquid or a gel eyeliner for that which I tend to wear a lot but not for  a simple look like this.
Rimmel London Volume Flash
Scandaleyes Mascara
Another recent buy that has made it into my collection is the Rimmel London Volume Flash Scandaleyes Mascara. I have been through a lot of different mascara's in the years trying to find one that I like and will stick to, so far it is this one! That may change, I don't know yet but at the moment this is my current favourite. It's very hard to make my eyelashes look nice and to actually be able to notice them, I think this mascara has done a good job and making them look alright so far.
Maybelline New York Baby Lips
in Peach Kiss
The last product that I used for this look is the Maybelline New York Baby Lips in Peach Kiss, I have 3 baby lips at this current moment in time, and so far this one is my favourite. It's such a nice colour, not dramatic at all, in fact you can't notice it too much when it's on which you may think is a bad thing but in this case it's not as it's just a simple subtle look that I'm going for, not too fancy.

So that is all the products that I used for this rainy day look, leave me a comment telling me if you want more of these blog posts and videos.
